Social Media Presence

We live in a world and generation where social media is everywhere, and almost everyone is currently using it. It has become more accessible to people because we all have the internet at the tip of our fingers. With one quick search of anyone's name, you are very likely to find at least one of their social media platforms. So it has become imperative to create a good presence of yourself, especially when you will soon be searching for a new job or trying to get into an educational program. Recently, I have noticed how important it is to upkeep my social media presence online, thanks to Dr. Silva and Dr. Ferry. I have always used platforms like Instagram and Facebook, but that is more for my personal life and not my professional life. That is why I like to use something more like Linkedin or Handshake for that. However, I recently have been open to improving my personal website because I can have a little more freedom, and I can add a lot of information to make it more personalized. Upkeeping a good presence online is very beneficial in many ways, especially when you are networking at events. You can share that website with people you are meeting along the way so they can later look it up and get a sense of who you are. It is a great way to share what kind of person you are to others and highlight all the accomplishments you have had along the way. I am still new at creating my website, but I am excited to get my website solid. That way, I can emphasize all the social media that I have for my professional life and link it all in one place instead of sharing every individual social media platform; rather, it is all in the same place for people to see.
