Kassandra's Biography
Hello everybody, my name is Kassandra Barrera Garcia and I am excited to start off my fourth semester with S-STEM. Last semester I am working with Dr. Robin Cotter on a project funded by ASU WAESO and TRAIN. My partners and I will be adding and expanding on what we already did last semester. I decided to join S-STEM because I saw it as a great opportunity to begin getting some research experience, and so far, I am loving it. The career I am trying to pursue is a degree in Forensic Science. This type of field has always fascinated me since I was 8 years old. Helping stop crime in this world is something I am passionate about, especially helping get bad people off the streets, without needing to become a police officer or a lawyer, but doing it through science! Aside from being a college student, I do work full time. I work as a front desk agent at the Hilton Garden Inn. You may be thinking, "How do you have time to do anything?" I love to go out so I make sure I have time for my friends and I also make sure I get all my school work done too. Some of my hobbies are playing the piano, which I have been playing for a little over 13 years. Funny story about this hobby, actually; I was forced by my parents when I was 8 years old and I hated it. But as time passed by, I am now in love with it! I also enjoy playing soccer and I like to play volleyball for fun. I also love to travel, meet new people and I'm an avid watcher of Sci-fi movies and shows. With all that being said, I am excited to see what new and exciting findings I will find myself in! Spring 2019 will be a year of good hope and new opportunities. And sad to say this will be my last semester at Phoenix College, but I will be transferring to ASU West in the Fall 2019 to finish my bachelors in Forensic Science.
