Where was 3 years ago from now, and 3 years after?

 1. What did you know about your field 3 years ago, and what have you learned about that has 'wowed' you? (Supplemental questions: What did you use to think was an advanced topic in your subject, and what do you believe to be now? What was the experience that you feel you learned the most from?)

Honestly, three years ago, I switched majors to what I am majoring in now, which is Forensic Science. When I first started my college journey straight out of high school, I enrolled in the biomedical program, and I wanted to become a biomedical engineer. For two years, I did that, and in the final semester, when it was time to transfer over to ASU in Lake Havasu, I decided that I was always interested in forensic science. I remember when I was a small kid, I would watch all the crime shows you can think of, and the idea of looking at a piece of evidence and creating a story and examining it was something so interesting to me. So I did the craziest thing, and I switched my major to Forensic science. Even though I knew that it would affect my progress and that it was going to delay my graduation date, I knew that it would be worth it and that I would be content in the work of the field. I did not know much about my field three years ago because what we see on tv is always not how the real forensics science world is. Forensic science is sometimes depicted by what we like to call the "CSI effect," which means that what we see on TV is not always accurate. So, I had to unlearn some stuff that was not correct from the media and learn the proper ways of forensic science, and I have learned a lot throughout the years, and it's been a great experience.

2. What do you want to learn about over the next three years? (Is it scientific or personal? Why do you want to learn it? How do you plan on developing this knowledge?)

In the next three years, I would like to gain experience in my professional, scientific life in the forensic science field. I am not sure what specialty I would like to do, but that is what I would like to do in a crime lab and explore and see what is suitable to my likes. One thing for sure is I would like to start off working in a private crime lab, for now, and getting some experience first and then who knows, maybe go out of state and get to experience another place besides Arizona, where I have lived my whole life. I know for sure, though, that I am glad that I could do the transition from biomedical engineering to Forensic Science. I know that what I learn from now on will be something that I will be passionate about. The forensic science community is constantly growing and expanding, so there is always. Also, in the next three years, I would like to improve my personal life and help out my family and improve my personal relationships. Who knows, I guess I will be able to read this from three years from now and see how much of this I have accomplished.
